Initial Psychiatric Evaluation
Standard Duration: 60 mins [$600]
This foundational session is dedicated to reviewing your medical and psychiatric history, establishing an initial diagnostic framework, and co-creating your treatment plan.
Because I value your time and investment, once you book your appointment, I will send you online intake forms through a secure portal for you to complete in advance. I review your comprehensive history before we sit down together, allowing us to jump straight into the nuances of your care.
Important Practice Requirement:To make this 60-minute model possible, completed digital intake forms are strictly required at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. If your paperwork is not completed by this time, your appointment will be automatically canceled or rescheduled.
If you have a highly complex psychiatric history (such as extensive past medication trials or multiple past diagnoses), please arrange to have a brief summary letter from your previous provider sent over prior to our session so we can safely review your history.
I offer sessions in person at my office in Long Beach and via telepsychiatry (video appointments) across California.
Follow-Up & Medication Management
Standard Duration: 30 Minutes [$350]
These ongoing appointments are designed to carefully monitor your progress and ensure your treatment remains safe, effective, and aligned with your goals. During these visits, we will review your response to medication, evaluate and manage any side effects, and collaborate on the next steps of your healing journey.
Longer sessions (such as 45-minute appointments) are always available upon request for complex adjustments or integrated therapeutic support.
My Continuity of Care Policy: In my practice, I conduct every aspect of your care personally—from your initial consultation through all ongoing follow-up visits. You will always work directly with me, ensuring a consistent, deeply personalized, and unhurried clinical relationship.
Out-of-Network Insurance & Superbills
While I do not contract directly with insurance providers, I am happy to provide you with a monthly "Superbill" (an itemized medical invoice) upon request. You can submit this document directly to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on the specifics of your coverage plan.
Dr. Nadia Barati
A Different Approach to Care
For years, I served the working population within the traditional insurance system, believing it was the best way to ensure accessible, high-quality care.
However, the modern healthcare landscape has shifted. Corporate-run clinics now prioritize volume, forcing clinicians to rush through 14-minute appointments and assign premature diagnostic labels simply to satisfy billing requirements. These organizations also use the generic term "provider" to blur the critical distinction in training and expertise between different clinical roles.
I opened my private practice to move beyond these corporate dictates. By operating independently, I eliminate these barriers, allowing me to dedicate the time necessary for meticulous, unhurried treatment provided exclusively by a board-certified psychiatrist.
